“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”

Last week, New Trier Sailing faced off against conference rivals in an intense MISSA Central Baker Pre-Qualifier. Squaring off in 3v3 team racing, nine strong local teams competed for only three qualifying births. Despite a valiant and focused effort, New Trier was knocked out on day one and was relegated to silver division. However, after a short brunch the next day, the team rallied to defeat all of their silver fleet opponents in dominant fashion. While the team was unable to advance to the next stage of qualifiers, our level of preparation and heart is certainly something to be proud of. The team met before the regatta and created a playbook by pooling everyone’s knowledge. Additionally, competitive scrimmages full of energetic back-yard tactics were a blast to be a part of in the months leading up to the event. Without a doubt, New Trier will bounce back and keep fighting the good fight.
