This weekend was a fun, mildly inconsistent weekend for New Trier Sailing. Saturday started out with some big breeze that we all enjoyed. As the day went on, the breeze went down, and became very, very shifty. A-boat, Quinn Keenan ’19 and Anna McBride ’20 experienced some technical difficulties involving a robo-mark, but after filing for redress, the results were adjusted to be fair. Nathan Whisner ‘ 19 and Izzy Cox ’19 sailed very strong on Saturday as well, ending the day in contention to qualify. Sunday was less consistent, with huge shifts and the breeze dying out randomly. After all the racing was done, our spot came down to a redress hearing where Nathan defended a top 3 finish to race committee. After some hard work, we finished in fourth place, qualifying for the Mallory Championship! Congratulations to all the hardworking sailors and a huge thanks to our coaches and alternates helping this weekend. Also, thank you to Jeff Barton for chaperoning. Looking forward to Seattle in two weeks!
